“…Physical aging of bulky membranes (10–50 μm) typically used in the academia is a slow process and its effects do not show up within experimentally accessible timescales (Galizia et al, 2017a ). To accelerate physical aging, Da Silva Burgal annealed thick films made by PEEK, Lenzing P84 polyimide and polybenzimidazole at 120°C for 48 h (Da Silva Burgal et al, 2017 ). Polyimide and PBI samples became very brittle after thermal annealing, due to the accelerated free volume relaxation, which reduced polymer chain mobility.…”
