Negative-ion resonances in total cross sections for slow electron-sodium collisions

Abstract: The interaction of electrons and atomic sodium was studied by using the momentum space coupled-channel optical method at low-impact energies. Total scattering cross sections have been calculated, and negative-ion resonances have been located. The present calculation results are in good agreement with available experimental data and previous theoretical results. We have obtained resonance features at 4.166 and 4.502 eV and also found possible resonance structures near the ionization threshold in the total cross… Show more

“…The momentum space coupled-channels optical method (CCO) for electron-atom collisions given by McCarthy and Stelbovics [19] was used to calculate the energy dependence phenomenon in electronhydrogen scattering [20] and negative-ion resonances in an electron-sodium system. [21] Good agreements were achieved with experimental data and other theoretical calculations. In the present method, an equivalent local polarization potential is used to describe the positron formation rearrangement channels.…”

“…The CCO method for electron-atom scattering given by McCarthy and Stelbovics [7] has been applied to study the energy-dependent phenomena in electron-hydrogen scattering [8], negative-ion resonances in an electron-sodium system [9], and in an electron-oxygen system [10]. Good agreements were achieved with results of experimental measurements and other theoretical calculations.…”

“…In this work, our main object is to make a detailed study on the resonance features and the critical points of angular differential cross sections in positronhydrogen scattering employing the momentum-space coupledchannels optical (CCO) method. [25] The CCO method for electron-atom collision given by McCarthy and Stelbovics [26] has been applied to calculate the energy-dependent phenom-ena in electron-hydrogen scattering [27] and negative-ion resonances in electron-sodium [28] and electron-oxygen [29] systems. Good agreements with experiments and other calculations have been achieved.…”
