“…The Bluetooth-embedded IMU showed high validity against SG, which is widely used as the gold standard, while also showing high intra-trial reliability. The SEM and MDC, which are low and reasonable, for the intra-trial reliability of the Bluetooth-embedded IMU were similar to those for the intra-trial reliability of the SG in this study and other reliable devices such as the Vicon motion analysis system and a digital inclinometer demonstrated in previous studies (Inokuchi et al, 2015;Kolber, Fuller, Marshall, Wright, & Hanney, 2012). Even without a magnetometer, it was able to produce excellent results against the SG with only an accelerometer and a gyroscope.…”

“…The Medical Research Ethics Committee approved the study, and participants provided written informed consent. We elected to recruit 56 participants, based on similar studies of clinical test validity 15,23,28,32 and recommendations for validation studies.…”

“…Physicians often use either a visual survey (8) or a CROM device (3) to determine neck ROM clinically and in formal studies. The torso however inevitably moves in conjunction with neck movement, so cervical ROM results include the combined movement of the trunk and neck (28). Additionally, when measuring the mobility of the neck in one direction, it should be considered that neck motions involve more than one plane (29).…”
