Objetivou verificar os efeitos, a longo prazo, do Programa Multiprofissional de Tratamento da Obesidade nos indicadores de composição corporal, medidas antropométricas e aptidão física em indivíduos adultos, por meio de estudo de método misto, com desenho sequencial explanatório, aprovado pelo comitê de ética em pesquisa. Realizado em um município no sul do Brasil, no período de outubro de 2022 a junho de 2023, que aderiu ao Programa Multiprofissional de Tratamento da Obesidade (PMTO), que desenvolve acompanhamento com equipe multiprofissional, incentivando a reeducação alimentar e a prática de atividades físicas. Foi composto por 14 mulheres adultas, participantes de Ensaio Clinico Pragmático em 2020. A integração dos dados quantitativos e qualitativos foi combinada por conexão. Após dois anos do programa, houve aumento significativo nos indicadores da composição corporal (peso corporal, índice massa corpórea, percentual gordura corporal), das medidas antropométricas (circunferência pescoço, cintura, abdome e quadril) e de aptidão física (frequência cardíaca 1 minuto pós teste, percepção subjetiva de esforço). Constatou diminuição da massa musculo esquelética, frequência cardíaca pós teste, pressão arterial diastólica, SpO2 e da prática de atividade física e inconformidade com a prática de reeducação alimentar. A longo prazo, o PMTO apresentou predomínio de efeitos negativos dos indicadores nutricionais de saúde. A descontinuidade da intervenção desmotivou as mulheres na manutenção de comportamentos saudáveis. Destarte, sugere a inserção permanente de indivíduos no programa e acompanhamento contínuo por equipe multiprofissional.

Neck circumference (NC) and its relationship to height (NHtR) and weight (NWtR) appear to be good candidates for the non-invasive management of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This study aimed to evaluate the ability of routine variables to assess and manage NAFLD in 98 obese subjects with NAFLD included in a 2-year nutritional intervention program. Different measurements were performed at baseline, 6, 12 and 24 months. The nutritional intervention significantly improved the anthropometric, metabolic and imaging variables. NC was significantly associated with the steatosis degree at baseline (r = 0.29), 6 m (r = 0.22), 12 m (r = 0.25), and 24 m (r = 0.39) (all p < 0.05). NC was also significantly associated with visceral adipose tissue at all the study time-points (basal r = 0.78; 6 m r = 0.65; 12 m r = 0.71; 24 m r = 0.77; all p < 0.05). NC and neck ratios combined with ALT levels and HOMA-IR showed a good prediction ability for hepatic fat content and hepatic steatosis (at all time-points) in a ROC analysis. The model improved when weight loss was included in the panel (NC-ROC: 0.982 for steatosis degree). NC and ratios combined with ALT and HOMA-IR showed a good prediction ability for hepatic fat during the intervention. Thus, their application in clinical practice could improve the prevention and management of NAFLD.

The aim of this study was to characterise the whole-body 50 kHz phase angle in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and to estimate it using other nutrition-related physical examination indices. We enrolled 117 patients with OSA who underwent polysomnography. Patients underwent body composition measurements, physical examinations, and nutrition-related laboratory tests, and were grouped according to neck circumference (NC) quartiles to analyse the correlation between NC and nutritional assessment index values. A significant positive correlation was observed between NC and various nutritional indicators, including height and whole-body 50 kHz phase angle. An increase in NC resulted in a corresponding increase in weight, body mass index, waist circumference, arm muscle circumference, whole-body 50 kHz phase angle, apnoea–hypopnea index, and the longest apnoea time. Further stepwise regression and multiple linear regression analyses revealed: whole-body 50 kHz phase angle =(0.126×waist circumference + 0.345×arm muscle circumference − 1.420- NC)/(-1.496). The whole-body 50 kHz phase angle in patients with OSA can be estimated using NC, arm muscle circumference, and waist circumference, helping assess the combined nutritional, inflammatory, and immune status of patients with OSA.
