Near Ground Pathloss Propagation Model Using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System for Wireless Sensor Network Communication in Forest, Jungle and Open Dirt Road Environments

Abstract: In Wireless Sensor Networks which are deployed in remote and isolated tropical areas; such as forest; jungle; and open dirt road environments; wireless communications usually suffer heavily because of the environmental effects on vegetation; terrain; low antenna height; and distance. Therefore; to solve this problem; the Wireless Sensor Network communication links must be designed for their best performance using the suitable electromagnetic wave behavior model in a given environment. This study introduces and… Show more

“…LoRa propagation loss is measured by the RSSI (received signal strength indicator) parameter. This parameter has been used in many works as a transmission quality indicator [ 36 , 37 , 38 ]. The measurement of received signal strength (RSS) is followed by various metrics ( Table 2 ).…”

“…The concept of smart farming owes its origin to the massive use of technology worldwide in agriculture sector. Nowadays, the activities of the agri-business enterprises are based on smart farming techniques (Hakim et al, 2022). This can help farmers better monitoring of the needs of individual animals and crops, adjust their nutrition and farming accordingly which will eventually enhance the food production chain (Scherr et al, 2012).…”

“…However, some researchers hope to use indirect methods to solve IoT WSN communication problems such as environmental modeling for wireless data transmission (radio propagation modeling) [213], [214]. The Computational Intelligence method to perform this feat including ANFIS [105], CNN [215], Random Forest [216], PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) [217], Markov Chain [218], and more.…”
