Near-field Communication (NFC)

Abstract: Libraries are the central agencies for the dissemination of knowledge. Every library aspires to provide maximum opportunities to its users and ensure optimum utilization of available resources. Hence, libraries have been seeking technological aids to improve their services. Near-field communication (NFC) is a type of radio-frequency technology that allows electronics devices—such as computers, mobile phones, tags, and others—to exchange information wirelessly across a small distance. The aim of this paper is t… Show more

“…Until recently, many smartphones have built-in near field communication (NFC) to allow short-range communication and small data transfers. Due to the severely short range of communications (short range is around 10 cm), NFC implementations concentrate only on the speed of communication, ignoring security properties, in particular, the authentication of the sender and the recipient [1][2][3][4]. Many techniques have been proposed to offer authentication of transactions through NFC [5][6][7][8][9].…”

“…Through NFC-enabled devices such as smartphones or tablets, users can simply tap on NFC tags or stickers placed on books, documents, or displays to instantly access relevant information [2]. This not only enhances access to knowledge but also promotes efficient information sharing among students, scholars, faculties, and other stakeholders in the agriculture sector.…”
