“…The precognitive visions (i.e., seeing events occurring in the future), extrasensory perception (i.e., acquisition of information without the use of the five physical senses), and life review are also prototypical NDE features but are less often encountered (Charland-Verville et al, 2014;Greyson, 2003;Zhiying & Jian-xun, 1992). Interestingly, all these features are subsequently recalled with vividness and details, even decades later (Cassol et al, 2019a(Cassol et al, , 2020Martial et al, 2017a;Moore & Greyson, 2017;Thonnard et al, 2013).…”

“…Our findings supported RM memory theory in that typhoon memories held greater episodic features that pertained to real memories than in everyday positive and negative memories. Since memories of NDEs contain higher amounts of details (especially internal and episodic information; Cassol et al, 2020) than FBMs, we can initially suggest that first-hand survival memories behave more like NDE memories than FBMs. Episodic qualitative phenomenological characteristics of NDE memories especially include contextual and sensorial details (e.g., Moore & Greyson, 2017), as do first-hand survivor accounts of natural disasters.…”

“…NDEs are psychological events that generally occur when people have been close to death or if they have survived situations of intense danger (Greyson, 2000), and classical examples of NDE memories are reported by people after being in a coma or having endured cardiac arrest (Martial et al, 2020). NDEs are first-hand experiences and emotionality and consequentiality (consequences of the event or aftermath; Cassol et al, 2019) are incorporated in people's NDE memories, as well as life impact (Cassol et al, 2020). Thonnard et al (2013) suggested that because NDEs evince both emotion and consequentiality, they could meet the definition of FBM because NDEs are more detailed and long-lasting than other autobiographical memories.…”
