Near- and subbarrier elastic and quasielastic scattering of the weakly boundLi6projectile onSm144

Abstract: High-precision data of backward-angle elastic and quasielastic scattering for the weakly bound 6 Li projectile on 144 Sm target at deep-sub-barrier, near-, and above-barrier energies were measured. From the deep-sub-barrier data, the surface diffuseness of the nuclear interacting potential was studied. Barrier distributions were extracted from the first derivatives of the elastic and quasielastic excitation functions. It is shown that sequential breakup through the first resonant state of the 6 Li is an import… Show more

“…11 illustrates the difference between quasi-elastic and complete fusion barrier distributions in collisions of weakly bound nuclei. Panel (a) shows the QEBD for the 6 Li + 144 Sm system, measured by Monteiro et al [95]. Panel (b) shows the CFBD obtained by Rath et al [101] for the same system.…”

“…A few other measurements of the elastic and quasielastic backscattering for weakly bound nuclei have been reported previously [18][19][20][21][22], but they were for heavier targets and emphasized the coupling effects rather than the energy dependence of the optical potential.…”

“…The SPP was assumed in studies of different reaction channels such as elastic scattering for systems involving tightly bound (see e.g., [3,4]), weakly bound (e.g., [5,6]), and halo (e.g., [7,8]) nuclei; heavy-ion fusion of tightly bound (e.g. [9,10]), weakly bound, and exotic (e.g., [11,12]) nuclei; and inelastic scattering and transfer processes (e.g., [13,14]).…”
