This article surveys the activities of the internationally acclaimed, budget classical recording label Naxos, from its founding in 1987 to the end of 2010. However, Naxos caters primarily to classical music fans, not to higher education needs. Thus, academic libraries and their patrons have been and will likely remain as secondary clientele in Naxos's overall commercial interests.
