Abstract:Endoscopic surgery for pancreatic abscess is feasible and effective. It is an alternative to surgery that currently can be considered a primary treatment option for selected pancreatic abscesses.
“…Abscesses were drained by cystgastrostomies [15], cystduodenostomies [4], and transpapillary drainage [16]. Endoscopic drainage of the pancreatic abscess was achieved in 80% of these patients [20]. These results prove that endoscopic drainage offers an effective therapeutic option with minimal morbidity and mortality.…”

“…M. tuberculosis is a rare cause of pancreatic abscess. Surgical drainage has been standard for pancreatic abscess management with percutaneous and endoscopic approaches being more recently advocated (10). We performed endoscopic drainage on the presumption of bacterial infection when purulent aspirate was retrieved.…”
