“…Cunneen, Higgins, and Watson (24B) described an infrared method for the analysis of cis and trans double bonds in polyisoprene, and Corish (235) attacked the same problem by the use of the near-infrared region. Kasatkina (435) analyzed for 1,4; 3,4; and 1,2 linkages in synthetic polyisoprenes bj' comparing rates of oxidation of the rubbers in benzoyl hydroperoxide with those of model compounds; Yakubchik and Filatova (7,95) applied a similar technique to sodium butadiene rubber. Several articles (45B, 575, 555) have appeared in which infrared spectroscopy has been employed in the determination of unsaturation in butadiene polymers.…”

“…the chemical and physical methods reported in the literature during the period since the previous review (S') up to October 1960. As in the case of previous reviews (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8), test methods applied to compounding ingredients have been omitted except for those involving their qualitative or quantitative de-termination in rubber. Similarly, methods devised to test the raw materials used in the manufacture of synthetic rubbers have also been omitted.…”

As in the case of previous reviews (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)(9), test methods applied to compounding or other ingredients usually have been omitted, except for those involving their qualitative or quantitative determination in rubber. Similarly, methods devised to test the raw materials used in the manufacture of synthetic rubbers have also been omitted.…”
