In this research, the concentrations of natural (226Ra, 232Th and 40K) and anthropogenic (137Cs) radionuclides were measured in sediment samples collected from the Borçka Dam Lake using a high purity germanium detector (HPGe). The activity values ranged from 4.79-21.46, 9.36-20.65, 238.01-721.26 and 0.79-6.81 Bq kg-1 for 226Ra, 232Th, 40K and 137Cs respectively. The average 226Ra, 232Th and 40K activity concentrations calculated for the sediment samples were found to be lower compared to world average values reported by UNSCEAR. In addition, radiological hazard indices were determined and compared with the international permissible values. The results of this study revealed that there is no significant health risk for people exposed to sediment samples in this region.

A three samplings were carried out between September 2014 and August 2015, at twelve stations to determine the seasonal changes of species, relations with water quality parameters, and the Malacostraca fauna of the Upper Coruh River Basin. A hand net was used to collect the biological samples. Dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, electrical conductivity, and total dissolved solids were measured using a portable water meter. Nitrite, ammonium, phosphate, and biochemical oxygen levels were also measured. Seven taxa were identified (five of them belong to Amphipoda, one to Isopoda, and one to Decapoda). Gammarus birsteini was the continuous, while G. kischineffensis and Asellus aquaticus are common. G. fossarum, G. balcanicus, Gammarus sp. and Potamon ibericum were rarely found. AF (Aydıncık Foundation) and DF (Değirmencik Foundation) stations had first class water quality while other stations had second and third quality according to the Quality Criteria According to Classes of Inland Water Resources.

Bu çalışmanın amacı bazı ticari tuz örnekleri içindeki doğal ve yapay radyonüklitlerin aktivite konsantrasyonlarını HpGe gama spektrometre sistemi kullanarak belirlemektir. Çalışmada 5-rafine edilmiş, 5-rafine edilmemiş, 1-bulaşık makinesi tuzu olmak üzere toplamda 11 adet ticari tuz örneği incelemiştir. Tuz örnekleri içindeki 226 Ra, 232 Th, 40 K and 137 Cs radyonüklitlerinin aktivite konsantrasyonları, radyum eşdeğer aktivitesi, soğurulan gama doz oranı, yıllık etkin doz eşdeğeri, 226 Ra, 232 Th ve 40 K doğal radyonüklitlerin tuz örneklerinin yetişkinlerde yıllık tüketimden gelen etkin doz değeri, iç tehlike indeksi ve dış tehlike indeksi değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen radyum eşdeğer aktivitesi, soğurulan gama doz oranı, yıllık etkin doz eşdeğeri uluslararası raporlarda verilen ortalama değerler ile karşılaştırılmış ve tuz örnekleri için elde edilen değerlerin, uluslararası raporlarda belirtilen ortalama değerlerden düşük olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. 226 Ra, 232 Th ve 40 K doğal radyonüklitlerin tuz örneklerinin yetişkinlerde yıllık tüketimden gelen etkin doz değeri, uluslararası raporda belirtilen değerden daha yüksektir.
