National epidemiology of culture-confirmed brucellosis in Israel, 2004–2022

Abstract: Brucellosis, a global zoonosis, is endemic in Israel. We used a national database of cultureconfirmed cases (2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010)(2011)(2012)(2013)(2014)(2015)(2016)(2017)(2018)(2019)(2020)(2021)(2022) to analyse the trends of brucellosis. Of 2,489 unique cases, 99.8% were bacteraemic, 64% involved males, and the mean age was 30.5 years. Brucella melitensis was the dominant species (99.6%).
