“…Bonding mode I has not been observed for chalcogenophosphates so far, but thiophosphates such as AgZnPS 4 [56] contain entities with fragment II. Bonding mode III is typically encountered in early transition metal compounds such as AgTi 2 (PS 4 ) 3 , [57] ATi 2 (PS 4 ) 3 , [58] and K 3 Ti 2 P 5 S 18 [59] 3-anion chains, whereas mode IV is found in K 3 Bi(PS 4 ) 2 .…”

“…The mixture was maintained at a temperature of 873 K for 10d and then cooled to room temperature at 50Kh -~. As no well shaped single crystals were obtained, the product was ground under nitrogen atmosphere, heated again at 848K for a week and finally annealed for 3 d at 698 K. This synthesis led to two different types of crystals: needle-shaped crystals with a hexagonal section which were identified as AgTi2P3SI2 (Cieren, Angenault, Couturier & Quarton, 1995) and platelet-shaped crystals which correspond to the title compound. A semiquantitative analysis on those latter crystals by means of a JEOL microscope (TRACOR-TN 5500 equipped JEOL-JSM35C) confirmed the Ag2Ti2PaSIt stoichiometry.…”

“…For a strictly alternating sequence a Ti/P ratio of 2/3 is required, which is indeed realized in the structures of ATi 2 P 3 S 12 (A = Li, Na, Ag). [7][8][9] As another general building principle, the dimensionality of the anionic Ti-thiophosphate partial structures is established by the content of additional cations A, which so far have been alkali metals, Ag, or Tl. With a molar (Ti+P)/A ratio Ն 3 three-dimensional Ti-P-S tahedra and PS 4 and CuS 4 tetrahedra, which are connected by common edges and linked via common vertices to form layers.…”
