“…Further prospective or experimental studies are needed. In light of the findings on Machiavellianism and psychopathy in relation to willingness to use AAS 72 , it would be interesting to also examine the link to narcissism and self-esteem/insecurity 82 . “…Finally, whereas we did not experimentally create wealth, which -in principle -limits the causal scope of conclusions one can draw from such results, this concern is not applicable to our study, as one should see deleterious effects of affluence on behavior, if the original hypothesis was true. Yet, this is where the age of our sample works in our favor -due to the youth of our sample, it is implausible that the attitude created the wealth, it is more plausible that it is the wealthy background that creates the attitude of entitlement.…”

“…We point out that narcissistic CEOs are more likely to use repurchase as a price adjustment tool due to their inflated self‐view causing them to register their disagreement with the current market value of their company rather than a mode of paying out. Furthermore, they may pay out less as parting with cash may be considered more costly by narcissist CEOs due to a higher sense of personal insecurity (Kowalchyk et al., 2021). We find that narcissistic CEOs are less likely to make an actual repurchase, and when they decide to repurchase, they allocate less dollar amount towards such activities.…”
