Nanostructured lipid carriers loaded with simvastatin: effect of PEG/glycerides on characterization, stability, cellular uptake efficiency and in vitro cytotoxicity

Abstract: The study confirms the applicability of PEG/glycerides in the development of NLCs. Encapsulating SV in Labrasol-containing NLC could enhance the antitumor effect of the drug.

“…In this context, our data are consistent with previous studies reporting the cytotoxicity of SMV. These include SMV cytotoxicity against U266 myeloma cells [3,11], T47D, SKBR3 and MCF-7 breast cancer cells [21][22][23], PC-3 prostate cells [24] and GMK green monkey kidney cells [24].…”

“…From previous literature, it was clearly distinguished that the kind and quantity of surfactant influence the size of the nanoparticles and their storage stability. The quantity of surfactant should be enough to cover the surface of the hydrophobic nanoparticles 29,38 . The combination of two or more surface-active agents exhibits to form blended surfactant films at the surface of the particle size.…”
