Nanosized Reactors Based on Polyethyleneimines:  From Microheterogeneous Systems to Immobilized Catalysts

Abstract: Effective nanoreactors based on polyethyleneimines (PEIs) for the hydrolytic cleavage of O-alkyl O-p-nitrophenyl chloromethylphosphonates (alkyl = ethyl, hexyl) and di(p-nitrophenyl)phosphate were developed in conformity with the idea of modeling the polyfunctional catalytic mechanism of enzymes. A step-by-step modification of the single PEI solution by additives with their own catalytic activities (sodium dodecyl sulfate and lanthanum salt) gave rise to a marked improvement in the reaction efficiency. A 104-1… Show more

“…Depending on the polymer concentration, aqueous solutions of PEI have a pH value of 8.7-9.7. At pH 10, less than 0.5% of PEI amino-groups are protonated (22). pK a values of the methyl-substituted analogue of 1 reported earlier (5, 23) are 9.0^0.08, The greatest change of compression isotherms was observed for the monolayer of 1 on CP subphase.…”

“…In the case of nonionic surfactants, no decrease in CMC is, as a rule, observed upon the addition of a polymer. Previously, we reported a noticeable reduction in CMC and the exist ence of two critical concentrations for PEI based sys tems in the presence of anionic [24] and cationic [25] surfactants. For nonionic surfactants, such as Triton X 100 [13] and С 10 Е 12 [26], one inflection was observed, and the CMC values appeared to be close for solutions of individual surfactants and surfactantpolymer mixtures.…”

“…Previously [24][25][26], we proposed an approach to the develop ment of supramolecular catalysts, which consists in step by step growth of the catalytic activity. These sys tems are based on a micelle forming component, which provides a contribution of micellar catalysis fac tors, i.e., the effects of concentrating and microenvi ronment.…”
