“…Although the sensitization effect of Tb 3+ ions on Eu 3+ luminescence has been demonstrated in several systems, [15][16][17][18][19][20][21] to the best of our knowledge the energy transfer between these two ions was not previously studied in CaF2 nanocrystals. The only reported example of energy transfer in CaF2:Eu,Tb is a "proof-ofconcept" single sample described by Ritter et al for nonwater-dispersible particles (methanol) obtained using a much more complex synthesis, 22 in a paper otherwise dedicated to separate doping with Eu 3+ or Tb 3+ ions and the physical mixture of differently doped nanoparticles, where energy transfer did not take place.…”

“…The doping of europium ion (Eu 3+ ) into CaF 2 host lattice shows colour tuning properties. In recent years several research articles have been published on the synthesis techniques and corresponding properties of the CaF 2 :Eu 3+ phosphor . In the conventional method of the synthesis pf CaF 2 , a larger retention time is required.…”

“…Calcium fluoride (CaF 2 ) is widely used as an optical material in the lenses of microscopes, digital cameras, video cameras and astronomical telescopes because it exhibits good durability when exposed to laser beams. CaF 2 is also known to function as a phosphor when doped with rare earth elements that provide luminescent centers 1,2) . CaF 2 doped with rare earth elements has shown photoluminescence, thermoluminescence and upconversion fluorescence, and these properties have been extensively studied.…”
