Nanoparticle technology and its implications in endodontics: a review

Abstract: Background The era of Nanomaterials has had a long lasting impression in the field of medical science. It’s excellent use in medicine has led to its application in dental science. Serious concerns regarding the eradication of microbial biofilms from the root canal system still exists in the field of endodontics. Nanoparticles have proven to be much more efficient with good bonding capabilities and surface chemistry as compared to the conventional materials. The practical applications of nanotec… Show more

“…Nanomaterials can be used in a variety of ways in endodontics, as Table 1 presents. Their great variety allows for interesting applications in several fields of dentistry, which clearly reflects their potential in dental clinical use [5,[193][194][195][196]. The greatest influence on clinical outcome is exerted by their unique size-related characteristics [18].…”

“…Nanoparticles are increasingly involved in dentistry [ 111 ]. They are used more often in conservative dentistry, endodontics [ 112 , 113 ], and prosthetics [ 111 ], where they become an integral part of treatment. They are used in irrigating solutions, filling materials and alloy in prosthetics.…”
