Nanofertilizer for Precision and Sustainable Agriculture: Current State and Future Perspectives

Abstract: The increasing food demand as a result of the rising global population has prompted the large-scale use of fertilizers. As a result of resource constraints and low use efficiency of fertilizers, the cost to the farmer is increasing dramatically. Nanotechnology offers great potential to tailor fertilizer production with the desired chemical composition, improve the nutrient use efficiency that may reduce environmental impact, and boost the plant productivity. Furthermore, controlled release and targeted deliver… Show more

“…Therefore, Fe-enriching fertilizers are required to ensure optimum Fe delivery to the plants. Recently, there has been a thrust to develop innovative fertilizer formulations like nanoparticle (NP) fertilizers because conventional fertilizers are required in large quantities owing to their slower absorption by the plants [4][5][6]. The NP fertilizers can facilitate tunable delivery of the required nutrients to the plants.…”

“…Palavras Chave: nanotecnologia; Solanaceae; inseto; transferência trófica; espectroscopia por fluorescência de raios-X In the last 20 years, there has been great development and use of nanotechnology in the electronics, automotive, energy, medicine, and agricultural sectors (Paschoalino et al 2010;Vance et al 2015). Several academic studies suggest that nanoCuO, nanoZnO, nanoCeO 2 , and nano TiO 2 can be used in fertilization by seed treatment (Duran et al 2017), or broadcast on foliage and soil (Raliya et al 2018). Additionally, they also may be applied as pesticides (Khot et al 2012).…”
