Nano titania aided clustering and adhesion of beneficial bacteria to plant roots to enhance crop growth and stress management

Abstract: A novel use of Titania nanoparticles as agents in the nano interface interaction between a beneficial plant growth promoting bacterium (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens UCMB5113) and oilseed rape plants (Brassica napus) for protection against the fungal pathogen Alternaria brassicae is presented. Two different TiO2 nanoparticle material were produced by the Sol-Gel approach, one using the patented Captigel method and the other one applying TiBALDH precursor. The particles were characterized by transmission electron … Show more

“…Oscarpoly in the field. This results were supported by the findings of Palmqvist et al (2015), they found that TiO 2 NPs protected oilseed rape against A. brassicae infection and caused plant growth promoting of roots and increasing of adhesive force between B. amyloliquefaciens and plants by formation protective encapsulating interspecies (Chowdhury et al 2012;Webster et al 2008).…”

“…Moreover, the NPs can be used as a carrier of some chemicals viz, pheromones, SAR inducing chemicals, polyamine synthesis inhibitors . TiO 2 NPs have become one of the most important substances in nanotechnology which caused plant growth promoting to roots of oilseed rape and protected the plants against Alternaria brassicae infection and adhesive effects on bacteria (Bacillus amyloliquefaciens; Palmqvist et al 2015). TiO 2 NPs is useful as protective encapsulating agents that increase adhesive force in the interspecies relation between bacteria and plants (Chowdhury et al 2012;Webster et al 2008).…”

“…Ginger rhizome treated with iron oxide nanoparticles showed an increment in their protein and iron levels . Titanium nanoparticles were used as nanoagent in the interface interaction between a plant growth‐promoting bacterium ( Bacillus amyloliquefaciens ) and oilseed rape plants ( Brassica napus ) for protection against the fungal pathogen Alternaria brassicae . Biosynthesized silver nanoparticles showed enhancement in seed germination and growth of seedlings in Vigna radiata and Cicer arientinum , Pennisetum glaucum and other crop plants such as watermelon, zucchini and corn .…”

“…The reactivity of TiBALDH in the presence of phosphate groups can be useful to bioencapsulation as has been suggested by Kessler. 47 Proteins or even macro-arrangements of proteins as viruses can be phosphorylated and then covered with TiO 2 using TiBALDH, all at room temperature and aqueous media, which would ensure the molecular structure is preserved.…”
