“…Disrupted sperm count, % viability, % motility, morphology and the low Johnson scores were observed in the testes of BPA‐exposed rats. Similar findings were reported in other models of testicular injury by Shahin and Mohamed (2017).…”

“…In adult male Wistar rats, TiO 2 NPs’ daily oral exposure (50 mg/kg body weight (BW)/day) caused significant time-dependent adverse effects such as decreased testis and prostate weight, disrupted hormone profile (i.e., significant decreased serum testosterone level and increased serum estradiol, Luteinizing hormone (LH) and Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels), impaired spermatogenesis, lipid peroxidation and inflammation in testicular tissues. Moreover, effects on semen parameters were also reported: normal sperm counts decreased from 88% (control) to 68% after 21 days of exposure [ 56 ]. Song and collaborators [ 57 ] examined the testes and sperm quality in male mice after an oral 5–10 nm TiO 2 NP exposure to of 0, 10, 50 and 100 mg/kg BW for 28 days.…”

“…TiO 2 NPs could significantly increase serum prostate-specific antigen level and serum prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) activity. 45 In addition, intragastric administration of TiO 2 NPs significantly increased the activity of the testicular marker enzyme γ-Glutamate transpeptidase (γ-GT) and acyl carrier protein (ACP) activity. Another study showed an increase in serum PSA concentration after treatment with ZnO NPs.…”
