“…The core-level C 1s spectra obtained from all samples are asymmetric toward higher binding energy with a relatively broad FWHM of ∼2.2 eV, which implies that there were several sub-peaks corresponding to the superposition of sp 2 , sp 3 that reactions involving hydrogen were prohibited during the growth procedure. 6,40 Therefore, the changes observed in the PES spectra show that the main carbon configuration of the carbon films changes from sp 3 to sp 2 with increasing sputtering power, in agreement with the Raman spectroscopy results. Next, we explored the valence band structure of the carbon films from the PES spectra shown in Figure 3a.…”

“…As the sputtering power increases, the CC peak increases considerably, along with strong suppression of the C–O peak. All carbon had shown negligible amounts of hydrogen-terminated carboxyl (−COOH) regardless of sputtering power, which indicates that reactions involving hydrogen were prohibited during the growth procedure. , Therefore, the changes observed in the PES spectra show that the main carbon configuration of the carbon films changes from sp 3 to sp 2 with increasing sputtering power, in agreement with the Raman spectroscopy results.…”

“…At higher times, the G peak shifts to lower wavenumbers [49] . The blue shift of G band caused by reducing the number of ordered aromatic rings contributes to the passing from graphite nanocrystals to amorphous carbon [50] . With increasing desorption time from 45 min to 1 h, graphite nanocrystals were formed in a bed of amorphous carbon.…”
