Abstract: We predict and analyze mechanical instability and corresponding self-sustained mechanical oscillations occurring in a nanoelectromechanical system composed of a metallic carbon nanotube (CNT) suspended between two superconducting leads and coupled to a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) tip.
