Nano-Insecticides for the Control of Human and Crop Pests

Abstract: Nanotechnology is a promising fi eld of interdisciplinary research. It opens up a wide array of opportunities in various fi elds like insecticides, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and agriculture. Biosynthesis of insecticides from plant extracts is currently under exploration. Plant extracts are very cost-effective and eco-friendly and thus can be an economic and effi cient alternative for the large-scale synthesis of synthetic and other chemical insecticides. The present review was carried out to establish the … Show more

“…As can be seen in the middle of the EDAX spectrum, there are 3 peaks located between 2 and 4 keV, related to silver’s characteristic lines K and L, and an optical absorption peak at 3 keV because of surface plasmon resonance. 5355 This revealed that the nanostructure was formed of silver. In addition, other elements can be observed on the left part of the EDAX spectrum, namely, carbon (C) at 0.2 keV and oxygen (O) at 0.5 keV.…”

“…For both mosquito species, n = 200 I-IV instar larvae were introduced with one G. affinis adult in a 2 L glass tank filled with dechlorinated water plus 1 mL of the desired concentration of NPs (i.e. 5 ppm of ZnO NPs, 1/3 of the LC 50 calculated against I instar mosquito larvae) 20 . For each mosquito species, three replicates were used.…”

“…e sample's elemental composition is shown by the EDAX spectrum in Figure 4. Due to surface plasmon resonance, an optical absorption peak at 3 keV, and peaks at between 2 keV and 4 keV, associated with silver's properties lines L and K [60,72,73] was found. is showed the presence of silver in the nanostructure.…”
