Nambu-Poisson bracket and M-theory branes coupled to antisymmetric fluxes

Abstract: By using the recently proposed prescription [1] for obtaining the M 5 brane action from multiple M 2 branes action in BLG theory, we examine such transition when 11 Dimensional background antisymmetric fluxes couple to the M 2 brane world volume. Such couplings was suggested in [2] where it was used the fact that various fields in BLG theory are valued in a Lie 3-algebra. We argue that this action and promoting it by Nambu-Poisson bracket gives the expected coupling of fluxes with M 5 brane at least at weak co… Show more

“…As the physics of multiple M5-branes can be studied using nonperturbation effects in the BLG theory, [35][36][37][38] FFBRST transformations for the BLG theory are very important. Furthermore, as M2-branes can end on M5-branes, it is important to study the FFBRST transformations for the BLG theory on a manifold with boundaries.…”

“…This is because we may be able to understand the physics of multiple M5-branes by analyzing nonperturbation effects in the BLG theory. [35][36][37][38] The FFBRST symmetry for the BLG theory on a manifold without a boundary has already been studied. 39 However, so far anti-FFBRST symmetry for BLG theory has not been studied.…”

“…The higher-derivative corrections to the Euclidean A 4 BLG theory have been determined [33] by means of the novel Higgs mechanism and also shown to match the result of [31]. The couplings of the worldvolume of multiple M2-branes to the antisymmetric background fluxes have been investigated by using the lowenergy Lagrangian for multiple M2-branes [34,35] as well as the non-linear BF Lagrangian [36]. There have been proposals for the non-linear Lagrangians for describing the M2-braneanti-M2-brane system [37] and the unstable M3-brane [38].…”

“…This is very important from the Mtheory point of view. This is because we may be able to understand the physics of multiple M5-branes by analyzing non-perturbation effects in the ABJM theory [38][39][40][41]. The FFBRST transformations for the BLG theory have already been studied [42].…”
