NAISC: An Authoritative Linked Data Interlinking Approach for the Library Domain

Abstract: At SWIB 2018, we presented our early stage work on a Linked Data (LD) interlinking approach for the library domain called NAISC -Novel Authoritative Interlinking of Schema and Concepts. The aim of NAISC is to meet the unique interlinking requirements of the library domain and to improve LD accessibility for domain expert users. At SWIB 2019 we will present our progress in the development of NAISC including an improved graphical user-interface (GUI), user testing results, and a demonstration of NAISC's interlin… Show more

“…McKenna et al [83] described the process of developing an RDF-enabled cataloguing tool for a university library. Moreover, 2 years later, they described the Novel Authoritative Interlinking of Schema and Concepts, or NAISC, and presented an interlinking framework that facilitates interlinking with greater ease, efficiency and efficacy [84]. Sharing the same views with McKenna, Warraich and Rorissa explored the perception of information professionals to adopt linked data technologies along with the barriers to its effective implementation in libraries [85], while they studied the application of linked data by librarians in Pakistan [86].…”

“…In this section, the findings of all three experiments are presented to answer the research question. As Usability Test 1, the think-aloud test has been partly published in McKenna et al (2019b), the finding for this experiment have been summarised. As per the DS approach, the results of the experiments were used to iteratively design, develop and improve NAISC-L.…”

“…The focus of this user experiment was to evaluate the usability and utility of NAISC-L. Usability Test 1 consisted of a think-aloud test, a post-test interview and the PSSUQ-the results of which are summarised below. The experiment has been described in detail in McKenna et al (2019b).…”
