Na7Mg13Nd(PO4)12

Abstract: Investigations of the quasi-ternary system Na3PO4–Mg3(PO4)2–NdPO4 allowed us to obtain the new phosphate heptasodium tridecamagnesium neodymium dodecakisphosphate, Na7Mg13Nd(PO4)12, by applying a flux method. The crystal structure is isotypic with that of the previously reported Na7Mg13 Ln(PO4)12 (Ln = Eu, La) compounds. It consists of a complex three-dimensional framework built up from an NdO8 polyhedron (m symmetry), an MO6 octahedron statistically occupied by M = Mg and Na, and eight MgOx (x = 5, 6) po… Show more

“…A further interesting observation is that there is a similar distribution of Na and Nd, which could indicate that during the corrosion process new complex phases could be formed. This could be e.g., the formation of Na 7 Mg 13 Nd(PO 4 ) 12 , which was recently crystallized from a solution containing Na 2 CO 3 , MgCO 3 , Nd 2 O 3 , NH 4 H 2 PO 4 , [ 46 ] which are all ingredients of cell culture medium (except for Nd, which is derived from the alloy).…”

“…All of them crystallize with trigonal symmetry (space group R3) and differ only by their cationic distributions. Three-dimensional anionic networks includes also original structures such as those observed in Na 18 Ca 13 Mg 5 (PO 4 ) 18 , NaCa 9 Mg(PO 4 ) 7 , Na 7 LnMg 13 (PO 4 ) 12 (Ln = La, Eu, Nd) (Yamakawa et al, 1994;Morozov et al, 1997;Jerbi et al, 2010bJerbi et al, , 2012.…”
