Abstract:The classic silver mirror reaction at room temperature in textbooks usually used glucose to react with silver nitrate and ammonium nitrate with the presence of caustic alkalis. But the aldehydes such as acetaldehyde and propionaldehyde were difficult to react under the same condition. In this paper, Na 2 CO 3 was used to mediate the reaction instead of caustic alkalis. In a newly formed ammoniacal-silver solution, a certain dose of Na 2 CO 3 solution and aldehydes (formaldehyde, propionaldehyde, n-butyraldehyd… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
