Na Kika Intelligent Wells - Design and Construction

Abstract: Field development, subsea well completion design, and completion installation in Shell/BP's ultra deepwater Na Kika field development required the marriage of several new technologies and completion methods. While many of the new techniques had been implemented separately in recent completion programs in the Gulf of Mexico and abroad, this completion program brought many of them together for the first time. Reservoir uncertainties such as compartmentalization, proximity and connectivity betwe… Show more

“…Intelligent-well technology (Table 1) was used in fi ve of the 12 Na Kika wells to improve ultimate recovery, to assist with reservoir management by providing operational control for each producing interval associated with commingling multiple completions, and to avoid well interventions (Stair et al 2004). The intelligent-well technology permits the downhole production of a completed zone through the operation of a hydraulically controlled downhole valve that is operated from the platform through subsea umbilical control lines.…”

“…Multiple production zones are typically produced from a single well either sequentially or by commingling (Stair et al 2004). A recent study (Vachon and Furui 2005) has shown that pumpassisted production could be achieved from both zones by use of a downhole SESP and a downhole choke.…”

“…Inteligente Convencionalcompletação inteligente, já que os poços puderam ser completados em regiões de diferentes reservatórios Stair et al (2004). concluíram que o uso de poços inteligentes aumentou a produção e a recuperação do campo, além de evitar os problemas de parada da operação devido à produção excessiva de areia.…”
