“…The diamagnetism observed in SCAO is quite similar to that in Gd 1-x Ca x MnO 3 , 23 Li 0.5 Fe 2.5-x Cr x O 4 and SmVO 3 , 24,25 where there are two sublattices (antiferromagnetically aligned), and M s results from the incomplete cancellation of the magnetic moments of the two sublattices. Neutron scattering experiments determined the magnetic unit cell contains two independent Co and two independent Nd sites in NdCoAsO.…”

“…For example, MR phenomenon occurring in LaVO 3 is ascribed to the combined effects of Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (D-M) interaction [18,19] and a magnetostrictive distortion induced by orbital moments [20], whereas the MR occurring in the isostructural YVO 3 is suggested to originate from the competition between single ion anisotropy and D-M interaction [21]. However, for MR appearing in both NdVO 3 and SmVO 3 , it is explained according to N-type ferrimagnetism arising from the imbalance of the quenching rate of the orbital moments of V 3+ ions [22,23]. For MR occuring in LnCrO 3 , it is attributed to the polarization of the paramagnetic (PM) moments of the Ln ions which align opposite to the canted Cr moments [24].…”

“…The RVO 3 compounds have been reported with numerous anomalous magnetic properties including temperature induced magnetization reversal [6][7][8][9][10][11], low field sensitive character [11,12], staircaselike hysteresis loops [12] etc. In the present paper, we will report a novel feature related to the magnetic memory effect observed along the a-axis of the GdVO 3 single crystal which have not been detected previously by earlier studies for polycrystalline [13][14][15] and single crystal sample [1].…”
