N,S,P Co-Doped Carbon Nanodot Fabricated from Waste Microorganism and Its Application for Label-Free Recognition of Manganese(VII) and l-Ascorbic Acid and AND Logic Gate Operation

Abstract: A novel fluorescent probe based on N,S,P codoped carbon nanodots (N,S,P-CND) is very simple and quickly fabricated by a one-step hydrothermal pyrolysis of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and utilized for label-free and "on-off-on" sequential detection of manganese(VII) and l-ascorbic acid (l-AA). The fluorescence of N,S,P-CND can be effectively quenched by Mn(VII) based on an inner filter effect (IFE) and recovered upon the addition of l-AA due to the easy conversion of Mn(VII) to reduced states (i.e., Mn(IV), Mn(II)… Show more

“…In view of the reducibility of l ‐AA and the strong oxidizing of MnO 4 − , the l ‐AA was utilized to remove MnO 4 − . [ 23 ] When l ‐AA was titrated into the mixture of N‐CQDs and MnO 4 − , the fluorescence intensity recovered (Figure 4d). It was hypothesized that the redox reaction between MnO 4 − and l ‐AA eliminated the IFE of MnO 4 − towards the N‐CQDs.…”

“…The strong peaks at 284.6 and 286.1 eV are associated with the graphite-like sp 2 C and C 1s state in C-N/C-O, respectively. 29,37 The low subpeak at 289.2 eV is attributed to formation of C]O bond. Meanwhile, the core level spectrum of N 1s can be deconvoluted into three subpeaks at 398.6, 399.9 and 400.9 eV, as shown in Fig.…”

“…S4 †), which are consistent with the ndings from previous study. 16 Interestingly, two peaks at l ex ¼ 350 nm and l em ¼ 450 nm for the CQDs overlapped with the UV/Vis absorption of Mn(VII), resulting in a possible inner lter effect (IFE) during the Mn(VII) assay. 28 Similarly, the Cr(VI) solution shared two absorption overlaps at 270 nm and 370 nm with the CQDs at l ex ¼ 350 nm and l em ¼ 450 nm.…”

“…The uorescence attenuation spectra of CQDs and Mn(VII) and Cr(VI) anions were determined by steady-state/transient uorescence spectrometer. 16,17 The time-dependent single photon counting (TCSPS) principle is interpreted as follows. The sample emits a uorescent photon signal upon the pulse light source excites the sample.…”
