Abstract: Myxofibrosarcoma is one of the most common sarcomas in the extremities of elderly patients. We analysed the clinicopathologic features in a series of 75 patients. All patients were adults (range, 22-91 years; median, 66 years) with an approximately equal incidence in men and women. Thirty-five tumors arose in the lower and 25 in the upper extremities, nine on the trunk, two each in the retroperitoneum and the head and neck region, and one each in the pelvis and penis. “…It is usually composed of a variety of spindled, pleomorphic, or sometimes focally epithelioid cells with variable mitotic activity [2]. This tumor constitutes a distinct clinicopathologic entity [5] included in the WHO classification of soft tissue tumors [8]. While MFSs of the visceral organs are uncommon, they have been reported to occur in the heart, the aorta, the thyroid gland, and the brain [2].…”

“…While MFSs of the visceral organs are uncommon, they have been reported to occur in the heart, the aorta, the thyroid gland, and the brain [2]. Urological MFS tumors of the penis, spermatic cord, kidneys, and prostate are also rare, and less than 30 cases have been reported in the period between 1970 and 2000 [1,5,[7][8][9].…”

“…MFS also portends a better prognosis than the variants of MFH [4,5,6,7]. MFS classically presents superficially in the lower extremities, followed by the trunk, upper extremities, neck, and head [1,8,9,10], but it has also been reported superficially in the breast [11,12], perineum [13], and orbit [14,15]. Reports also exist of MFS in deep sites, including the esophagus [16], hypopharynx [17], vocal fold [18], parotid [19], heart [20,21,22], aorta [23], pulmonary artery [24], lung [25] and brain [26,27].…”
