MyVision AIR: An augmented interactive reality book mobile application

Abstract: This paper presents an Augmented Interactive Reality book (AIR) application, aimed to enhance the reading experience of adult-learners by incorporating Augmented Reality (AR) technology to improve the interaction of normal books. Various features and characteristics of Augmented Reality (AR) were applied to the chosen book, "My Vision" written by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The project is a joint-collaboration between Etisalat Bri… Show more

“…Nowadays, even though adult learners are recognised as digital natives, using conventional styles of learning are still predominantly preferred. Unlike younger learners, using printed materials is more convenient for adult learners since it enables them to highlight points, read easily, or take notes for further explanation [7]. As such, adult learners tend to limit themselves in the application of m-Learning by denying its advantages.…”

“…Some members of this particular community may avoid using m-learning technology because of its limited functions, particularly with the synchronisation between m-learning and formal part-time learners' study pattern apparently absent and unknown. Moreover, formal part-time learners are linked with the challenge of delicately balancing their social life and academic learning [6]. Therefore, the integration of instructional principles and mlearning features calls for further study to enhance theoretical and practical assimilation [3].…”
