Myricetin inhibits migration and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma MHCC97H cell line by inhibiting the EMT process

Abstract: The recurrence and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are a major concern in current research. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is the leading cause underlying the high mobility and invasiveness of tumor cells. Myricetin is a natural flavonol with various pharmacological activities. The effects of myricetin on the migration and invasion of HCC MHCC97H cells were evaluated in the present study. Wound healing, Transwell migration and invasion assays were used to examine cell migration and invasi… Show more

“…Chemotherapy during the early stage of NSCLC is still needed in the targeted therapy era 19 . As a natural compound, myricetin exerts antiproliferative and anti‐metastatic effects on several tumor cells 20,21 . Here, we focused on the biological functions of four synthesized myricetin derivatives in the regulation of NSCLC.…”

“…Myricetin has also been reported to inhibit the migration and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma MHCC97H cells and weaken filopodia and lamellipodia [142]. Myricetin also up-regulates E-cadherin expression while downregulating N-cadherin [142]. Collectively, these findings suggest that myricetin suppresses the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), thereby impeding the migration and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma cells [142].…”

“…16 Other polyphenols present in the maqui fruit have also been implicated in the reduction of cell invasion through a reduction of matrix metalloproteinases. Myricetin inhibits invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma cells 50 and kaempferol reduces invasion in breast cancer cells and reduces lung metastasis of B16 mice melanoma cells. 51…”
