Myricetin, a natural flavonoid, normalizes hyperglycemia in streptozotocin-cadmium-induced experimental diabetic nephrotoxic rats

Renoprotective effect of myricetin restrains dyslipidemia and renal mesangial cell proliferation by the suppression of sterol regulatory element binding proteins in an experimental model of diabetic nephropathy

“…After treatment with myricetin to diabetic nephrotoxic rats were reducing the accumulation of renal TGs and extra cellular matrix protein such as collagen and fibronectin on glomerular basement membrane and essentially down regulate the SREBPs proteins expression thereby reduced the expression of TGF-β 1 and VEGF as well as collagen, resulting in prevent the glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria. This action of myricetin is possibly due to its insulin secretory effect and antihyperlipidemic properties (Kandasamy and Ashokkumar, 2012;Kandasamy and Ashokkumar, 2014). Histopathological observations of pancreas and kidney also confirmed the protective nature of bioflavonoid myricetin to tissues.…”

Effect of quercetin nanoparticles on the kidney of the streptozotocin-induced diabetes in male rats: A histological study and serum biochemical alterations

Consistent with our results, Kandasamy and Ashokkumar (2012) reported that in diabetic nephrotoxic rats, flavonoids restore the reduced level of albumin. Thus, QUE has a beneficial pharmacological effect on diabetic, especially at a dose of 50 mg/kg on hepatic, protein levels, diabetic, and functional markers.…”
