“…Insulin resistance and a defective insulin action in the metabolism of lipoprotein are the main mechanisms of altered lipid profile in patients with diabetic nephropathy (Prakash, 2012). Consistent with our previous reports (Kandasamy and Ashokkumar, 2012;Kandasamy and Ashokkumar, 2014) the diabetic rats developed a typical nephropathy by the rats exposed with nephrotoxicant Cd shown as increased plasma glucose concentration and decreased plasma insulin level thereby constructing severe albuminuria, as well as increased creatinine, urea, uric acid and blood urea nitrogen level which are indicated impaired renal function in the untreated diabetic nephrotoxic rats.…”

“…After treatment with myricetin to diabetic nephrotoxic rats were reducing the accumulation of renal TGs and extra cellular matrix protein such as collagen and fibronectin on glomerular basement membrane and essentially down regulate the SREBPs proteins expression thereby reduced the expression of TGF-β 1 and VEGF as well as collagen, resulting in prevent the glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria. This action of myricetin is possibly due to its insulin secretory effect and antihyperlipidemic properties (Kandasamy and Ashokkumar, 2012;Kandasamy and Ashokkumar, 2014). Histopathological observations of pancreas and kidney also confirmed the protective nature of bioflavonoid myricetin to tissues.…”

“…However, the QUE treatment significantly increased the serum albumin towards the negative levels, which was reflected in the reduction of kidney damage due to STZinduced hyperglycaemia. Consistent with our results, Kandasamy and Ashokkumar (2012) reported that in diabetic nephrotoxic rats, flavonoids restore the reduced level of albumin. Thus, QUE has a beneficial pharmacological effect on diabetic, especially at a dose of 50 mg/kg on hepatic, protein levels, diabetic, and functional markers.…”
