“…It often occurs in benign mixed tumors, ACC, and salivary duct carcinoma, as well as in EMC, myoepithelioma, and myoepithelial carcinoma . A previous study has suggested that the loss of myoepithelial differentiation might contribute to the poor prognosis of the solid subtype of ACC . Other papers have shown that the proliferation rate of myoepithelial cells was lower than that of basal‐type epithelial cells, and have emphasized the myoepithelial cell's role as a natural defender against cancer invasion .…”

“…On a retrospective analysis and comparison of immunoprofiles with architecture, it is seen that those cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma and polymorphous adenocarcinoma which showed p63-ve/p40-ve profile have high grade morphology and predominant solid pattern. In another study by Du et al, (2016), they studied myoepithelial differentiation in 109 adenoid cystic carcinomas including 38 cribriform, 35 solid and 36 tubular subtypes. They concluded that solid pattern of adenoid cystic carcinoma showed loss of myoepithelial differentiation and are associated with more aggressive behavior and poor prognosis.…”

“…Recently, Van Weert et al proposed the presence of a solid pattern regardless of its quantity is a poor prognosticator. Anyway, the solid growth pattern is related to more aggressiveness, poorer short-term survival and probably higher risk of nodal metastasis and early distant metastasis 9 . In many of the studies, a solid growth pattern is associated with worse prognosis, advanced stage and development of distant metastases 10,14 Neural invasion can be seen even in early-stage tumors and has been regarded as an unfavorable prognostic factor, associated with distant metastasis and adverse final outcome 10 .…”

“…Although almost 40 histological types of SGTs exist, some are exceedingly rare 8 .Histopathologically, AdCC is identified as a tumor with biphasic differentiation of epithelial and myoepithelial cell (MEC), which often shows mixed patterns of cribriform, tubular and solid types 9 . Here we report a case of AdCC in 60yr old female patient on the anterolateral surface of mobile part of the tongue.…”
