MYCORRHIZAL SYNTHESIS BETWEEN CISTACEAE AND TUBERACEAE

Abstract: SUMMARYCistus incanus ssp. incanus was tested with six Tuber species to prove its ectomycorrhizal development; the sanne was done with Tuber melanosporutn and five Cistus speeies. Cistus incanus L. ssp. incanus formed eetomycorrhizas with Tuber albidum Pico, T. brumale Vitt., T. aestivum Vitt. and T. rufum Pico. The five Cistus species {Cistus albidus L., C Iciurifolius L., C salvifolius L., C crispus L. and C. monspeliensis L.) developed ectomycorrhizas with Tuber melanosporutn

“…One including genera such as Snli,~, Querc.us, and EucnIyptus forms exclusively epidermal Hartig nets (Godbout and Fortin 1983); the other, such as Cistus and Dryns, forms full cortical Hartig nets (Debaud et a]. 1981;Giovannetti and Fontana 1982). A continuum of Hartig nets from the deeply cortical to the superficially epidermal is thus expected to be encountered in angiosperms.…”

“…Other species used in truffle culture (Quercus L., Corylus L. and Ostrya Scop.) begin carpophore production between the fifth and eighth year of cultivation, depending on the species (Giovannetti and Fontana 1982;Granetti et al 2005). Cistus shrubs can also collaborate with trees in the symbiotic mycorrhization process and in the survival of the mycelium of Tuber melanosporum.…”

“…Giovannetti and Fontana (1982) describe an experimental cultivation of Cistus incanus L. with Tuber melanosporum. After 2 years, the Cistus reached a height of 40 cm and formed characteristic burns (the term ''burn'' refers to the phytotoxic capacity of Tuber melanosporum and its ability to create clearings in the vegetation where its carpophores bear fruit).…”

“…En cualquier caso, junto a las Ericáceas, es una de las familias más importantes en el mantenimiento de nuestros ecosistemas mediterráneos actuales. La versatilidad nutricional es alta, habiéndose constatado numerosos simbiontes fúngicos (Giovannetti & Fontana, 1982;Comandini & al., 2006), que a su vez forman ectomicorrizas con muchas otras especies de plantas. Singular atención merece la relación dual entre Helianthemum spp.…”
