Mycofabricated biosilver nanoparticles interrupt Pseudomonas aeruginosa quorum sensing systems

Abstract: Quorum sensing (QS) is a chemical communication process that Pseudomonas aeruginosa uses to regulate virulence and biofilm formation. Disabling of QS is an emerging approach for combating its pathogenicity. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been widely applied as antimicrobial agents against human pathogenic bacteria and fungi, but not for the attenuation of bacterial QS. Here we mycofabricated AgNPs (mfAgNPs) using metabolites of soil fungus Rhizopus arrhizus BRS-07 and tested their effect on QS-regulated vir… Show more

“…They hypothesized that acquired apoptotic resistance might be a key aspect of cadmium-induced malignant transformation of prostate epithelial cells and could contribute to both tumour initiation and the acquisition of aggressive characteristics subsequent to tumour formation. However, other researchers (Singh et al, 2012) have identified this self destructive cell (apoptotic) process as the key to finding a method of destroying prostate cancer cells.…”

“…Higher activity of caspase-3 and caspase-9 was noted in QDs treated cancer cells. Finally, due to the induction of caspasedependent apoptotic cell death of cancer cells, it is suggest that biologically stabilized CdS-QDs bear the potential to be apply in biomedicine, specifically in tumor therapy (Singh et al, 2012).…”
