Mutagenicity of selected polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
Emmanuel Aduojo Awulu
Abstract:Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are ubiquitous contaminants with a high octanol-water partition coefficient (kow) and are persistent in the environment. PAHs have various modes of action including mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, and teratogenicity. The mutagenic sensitivity to PAHs of single-cell gel electrophoresis (Comet assay) was compared with the Ames reversion Salmonella experiment (using Salmonella typhimurium TA98, TA100 and TA102) were with and without an exogenous metabolic activation system (… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
