“…Multiple reports delineate isolation and functional characterization of stress-inducible promoters from varied plant species (Ben Saad et al, 2020;Divya et al, 2019;Srinath et al, 2017;Swapna et al, 2011). A few reports on the characterization of the promoter regions of stress-responsive genes and xylem specific transcription factors have also recently emerged in banana plants (Negi et al, 2017;Negi et al, 2018b;Negi & TakH, 2019;Tak et al, 2018;Tak et al, 2020). Despite that, only few stress-related promoters have been characterized for their responses in different organs of plant towards multiple stress conditions (Yamaguchi- Shinozaki & Shinozaki, 1993).…”

“…Two-month-old plants in greenhouse were subjected to either high-salinity (250 mM NaCl), drought (dehydrating on blotting paper), cold (4 ± 2 C) or applications of methyl jasmonate (200 μM MeJA), salicylic acid (2 mM), and ABA (100 μM) for defined time points (ranging from 1 to 24 h). In different experiments, equal volume of hormonal (MeJA, SA, and ABA) and sodium chloride solutions were either sprayed or used to irrigate the plants (Negi et al, 2016;Tak et al, 2020). Leaves from treated plants were collected and total RNA was isolated immediately with the help of Concert plant RNA-reagent (Invitrogen) and RNeasy plant mini kit (Qiagen) as described previously (Tak et al, 2017).…”

“…Antarctica represents one of the coldest environments, and low temperature is the fundamental property in Antarctic area. MAPKs are widely known to act as vital functions in stress responses of plants [33], animals [34] and yeasts [35], and then activate other functional proteins to accommodate low temperature stress. In yeast Dekkera bruxellensis, HOG-MAPK signaling pathway was activated in cold stress response [35].…”

“…These genes might regulate a range of ABA effector proteins via phosphorylation (De Zelicourt et al, 2016) and may also play major roles in the regulation of cell growth as well as cellular biotic and abiotic stress signaling (Lammers and Lavi, 2007;Fan et al, 2019). Proteins belonging to MAPK cascades have also been shown to be involved in the response of plants to cold stress (Markus et al, 2004;Tak et al, 2019), while PTP1 is known to downregulate cold stress (Liu et al, 2016). Thus, we propose that the ABA signaling pathway via PP2C is most important in terms of the cold stress responses of S. spontaneum at the seedling stage; however, future research should be conducted on this pathway.…”
