SummaryWe investigated the phenotype of thymic lymphoma induced by fractionated wholebody X-irradiation in DBA1 and NFS mice using mAbs for different cell surface antigens and flow . These results suggests that is a strain difference in the predominant phenotype of lymphoma. To ascertain this, we analyzed cell surface phenotype of radiation-induced lymphomas from DBA1 and NFS mice strain, which are both highly susceptible to induction of lymphoma by fractionated X-irradiation (Mori and Takamori 1989, Sally andFrank 1989). The phenotype of lymphoma cells was determined on the basis of different surface antigens, such as CD4, CD8, CD3, HSA, Thy-1, B220, VLA-4 and LECAM-1. The result demonstrated that there is a clear strain difference in the phenotypes of lymphoma between DBA1 and NFS mice.Materials and methods
AnimalsFemale DBA1 and NFS mice were used in this study. DBA1 mice were originally provided by Dr. J. Hayakawa (Kanazawa University). The origin of NFS mice was previously described (Mori and Takamori 1989). Mice have been bred by brother-sister mating in our laboratory.2. X-irradiation X-irradiation was carried out with a Radioflex X-ray generator (Rigaku Denki Co. Ltd., Japan) operated at 250 kV and 12.5 mA with filters of 0.3 mm Cu and 0.5 mm Al. Mice were exposed to 4
