Municipal Leachate Treatment by Fenton Process: Effect of Some Variable and Kinetics

Abstract: Due to complex composition of leachate, the comprehensive leachate treatment methods have been not demonstrated. Moreover, the improper management of leachate can lead to many environmental problems. The aim of this study was application of Fenton process for decreasing the major pollutants of landfill leachate on Kermanshah city. The leachate was collected from Kermanshah landfill site and treated by Fenton process. The effect of various parameters including solution pH, Fe2+ and H2O2 dosage, Fe2+/H2O2 molar … Show more

“…(1). This trend is also observed in other studies on landfill leachate [27,32].. However, at current above 0.5 A, increase in current only caused a slight raise in COD reduction efficiency ( Figure 5), while brought many disadvantages such as high electric consumption, eroding the surface of carbon felt electrodes and so reduces their service life.…”

“…The use of Irish potato waste (IPW) and poultry waste (PW) as raw materials for biogas and bio-fertilizer production will reduce the volume of wastes dumped in solid waste disposal sites (SWDs) and the odour emanating from the poultry farms respectively. There have been many previous studies on the optimization and kinetics of biogas production from anaerobic digestion of agricultural slurries and energy crops or organic wastes [12], [13], [14], [15] & [16]. However, there are publications on the optimization and kinetics of biogas production from anaerobic digestion of IPW and PW is scarce.…”

“…Among the principal variables studied which influence the reaction, it is mentioned the initial pH, concentrations of the reagents H 2 O 2 and Fe 2+ , and reaction time (Ahmadi et al 2005;Rodrigues et al 2008;Hasan et al 2011;Ahmadian et al 2013). Concerning the entitled Fenton-like processes, there are not many reports.…”
