“…20 None of the clinical or histologic criteria examined had a prognostic influence on survival; however, we did not consider all clinical variables such as performance status or level of protein in the cerebrospinal fluid. 16 This work is being continued by the GOELAMS group for a larger series. The expression of bcl-2 was reported to be linked to a poor prognosis for disease-free survival in diffuse large B-cell systemic lymphomas.…”

“…The prognosis of nonselected patients with PCNSL is comparable to that of glioblastoma multiforme patients, with a 5-year survival rate after conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy (RT) usually at less than 10% [11]. Unfavorable prognostic factors for survival are more than 60 years of age, WHO performance status greater than 2, poor neurologic function, elevated serum lactate dehydrogenase, extensive tumor spread, CSF protein level greater than 0.6 g/L, corticosteroid dependence, and absence of chemotherapy administration [12][13][14].…”

“…Some even have argued that age may influence the outcome more than treatment (21). High LDH level has been a common indicator of aggressiveness and poor prognosis for all subtypes of NHL (22). Factors specific to PCNSL include elevation of CSF protein which has been shown to correlate strongly with poorer survival (22).…”
