Multiplicity scaling of target protons in high-energy nucleus–nucleus and hadron–nucleus interactions

Abstract: Multiplicity scaling of target protons emitted from nucleus-nucleus ( 16 O-AgBr interactions at 2.1 AGeV and 32 S-AgBr interactions at 200 AGeV), pionnucleus (π − -AgBr interactions at 350 GeV/c) and proton-nucleus interactions (p-AgBr interactions at 200 GeV/c) has been investigated. The experimental points are found to lie approximately on the curve described by ψ (z) = Az exp(−Bz) with A = 3.36 ± 0.19 and B = 1.74 ± 0.06 for all the four interactions. A comparison of the fit with the function ψ (z) = (Az + … Show more

“…The values of the parameters obtained by us are A=1.50±0.29, B=-0.007±0.03, C=0.17±0.13 and D=-0.95±0.13 with  2 /dof=0.64. Many workers [13,15,17,20,[26][27][28] have tested the KNO scaling law for AA interactions data as well. In the present investigation, we have made an attempt to study KNO scaling in pion-nucleus interactions at 50 and 340 GeV, and proton-nucleus interactions at 400 GeV for compound multiplicity distribution.…”

“…The approximate constancy of ͗n͘/D values shown in Tables 2 and 3 and in addition the linear dependence of D upon the average number exhibited in Fig. 6 may prove the validity of KNO scaling irrespective of any specific form of the distribution of multiplicity [29].…”

“…Hwa(Gq moment) [2] and Takagi(Tq moment) [6] have developed the most popular of them. Considering their merits and demerits, both these methods have been extensively applied to analyze the multipion emission process [7,8]. Then techniques like the Detrended Fluctuation Fnalysis(DFA) method [9] have been used for determining monofractal scaling parameters and for detecting long-range correlations in noisy and non-stationary time-series data [10,11].…”
