Multiplicity dependence of the transverse-momentum spectrum for centrally produced hadrons in antiproton-proton collisions at√s =1.8TeV

Abstract: The transverse momentum of charged particles produced within the pseudorapidity range g = -0.36 to +1. 0 has been measured in pp collisions at Js 1.8 TeV. The charged-particle multiplicity of each event was measured with a 240-element cylindrical hodoscope system covering the range -3.25 ( g (3.25. The average transverse momentum as a function of the average charged-particle density per unit of pseudorapidity is presented. Events are observed with average charged-particle density as high as 32 per unit of pseu… Show more

“…Data of other experiments are taken from refs. [22,[31][32][33]. The curve shows the fit to the data points of the form p T = 0.425−0.0197 ln(s)+ 0.00156 ln 2 (s) with p T in GeV/c and s in GeV 2 .…”

“…In accordance with the principle of isotopic invariance, the number of neutral pions should be equal to the number of charged pions. The event, which was recorded by Japanese physicists, contained only charged peonies with no neutral [1]. This event was named "Centaur".…”
