Multiplex Electrochemiluminescence Polarization Assay Based on the Surface Plasmon Coupling Effect of Au NPs and Ag@Au NPs

Abstract: A novel multiplex electrochemiluminescence (ECL) polarization assay was developed to detect breast cancer-related genes BRCA1 and BRCA2 simultaneously based on the polarization characteristics of surface plasmon-coupled electrochemiluminescence (SPC-ECL). In this work, boron nitride quantum dots (BN QDs) were used as ECL emitters, and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) and gold-coated silver nanoparticles (Ag@Au NPs) were employed as surface plasmon materials. The surface plasmon coupling resonance of different metal… Show more

“…In the [Ru(bpy) 3 ](PF 6 ) 2 /TPrA system, the signal was generated by the reaction between [Ru(bpy) 3 ](PF 6 ) 2 and TPrA, and the related mechanism was depicted as follows Moreover, the yellow-green light emission at the cathode of BPE was attributed to the ECL reaction of BNQDs-K 2 S 2 O 8 . For the BNQDs/S 2 O 8 2– system, BNQDs were reduced to BN –· , the reduction of S 2 O 8 2– produces the strong oxidant SO 4 –· , and BN –· could react with SO 4 –· to generate the signal. , The proposed ECL process is displayed in the Supporting Information.…”

“…The electromagnetic field coupling between the emission of QDs and the metallic plasmon material appears at different polarization angles under different surface charge distributions . Therefore, the isotropic ECL emission of QDs can be amplified and converted into the directional emission in the presence of metal plasmons Figure demonstrates the effect on the ECL polarization characteristics of SnS 2 QDs with three different Au nanomaterials, including Au NPs, Au NRs, and Au NTs.…”

“…Our previous studies have proved that SEECL were successfully applied for detection carcinoembryonic antigen and Hg 2+ with high sensitivity and selectivity. , Multiplex detection based on electrochemiluminescence is a difficulty that needs to be broken through, and it is also a research hotspot. Normally, electrochemiluminescence multiplex detection require spectrum or potential of the molecules to be separated which limits their application. As an alternative approach, the spatially resolved electrode array overcomes the shortages, the electrode array was employed to fix specific recognition units such as antibodies or aptamers of different target objects in specific positions of the array, and the targeted detection can be realized. However, SEECL based on photomultiplier tube (PMT) detection can only detect one target at a time, which is not suitable for multiple targets detection.…”
