Multiple stimulus responsive Co-AIE framework materials with reversible solvatochromic and thermochromic behaviors: molecular design, synthesis and characterization

Abstract: A novel Co-AIE-MOF (Co-tcbpe) based on TPE derivatives is designed and synthesized. And it shows a multi-stimuli response in the application of reversible solvatochromism and thermochromism.

“…Because Co(II) and Ni(II) metals are adjacent in the periodic table of elements, it is necessary for us to explore the synthesis method of the Ni-MOF based on the synthesized Co-tcbpe. 32 First, we replaced Co(NO 3 ) 2 •6H 2 O with Ni-(NO 3 ) 2 •6H 2 O based on the synthesis method of Co-tcbpe. After 24 h of reaction, an amorphous spheroid was found in the glass vial, but it was not suitable for X-ray diffraction tests.…”

“…Based on the excellent aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties of tetraphenylethylene derivatives, 20 the photophysical properties of Co-tcbpe and Ni-tcbpe were studied combined with the reported literature. 32 The fluorescence emission spectra of Co/ Ni-tcbpe in the mixed solution of THF and H 2 O in different proportions are collected in Figure 3. When ΦH 2 O < 70% (ΦH 2 O represents the volume fraction of H 2 O), there is no obvious change in the emission peak position, but the fluorescence intensity increases with the increasing H 2 O content.…”

“…Stimuli-responsive MOFs are novel porous materials that combine the advantages of inorganic and organic chemistry. MOFs have unique structures that can respond to changes in solvent, [33][34][35][36] temperature, [37][38][39][40] pH, [41][42][43] light, [44][45][46] chemical substances, [47][48][49] and thus, they have become an excellent choice for creating stimuli-responsive materials. This article utilizes 2′,5′-diethoxy-[1,1′:4′,1″-terphenyl]-4,4″dicarboxylic acid (DTDA) and TbCl 3 •6H 2 O to construct a solvent-responsive MOF with rod secondary building units (SBUs), {[Tb(DTDA) 1.5 •2H 2 O]•DMF•8H 2 O} n (AQNU-4).…”
