Multiple sleep bruxism data collected using a self-contained EMG detector/analyzer system in asymptomatic healthy subjects

Abstract: Substantial night-to-night variability in masseter EMG activity levels was clearly observed in our subjects. There was no evidence of a suppressed or elevated first-night effect-like variability on masseter muscle EMG level seen in these subjects using a small portable self-contained EMG detector/analyzer. These data suggest that recordings should be at least 5-6-nights duration to establish a reasonable measure of an individual's average nightly masseter EMG level.

“…Castroflorio et al (2015; Manfredini et al, 2014; Yachida et al, 2016). On the other hand, EMG monitoring of SB can be reliable (Castroflorio, Deregibus, Bargellini, Debernardi, & Manfredini, 2014; Gallo, Lavigne, Rompre, & Palla, 1997; Haketa et al, 2003; Minakuchi et al, 2012; Stuginski‐Barbosa, Porporatti, Costa, Svensson, & Conti, 2016). Given the precedent established in the literature, we would argue that the EMG results were worth reporting, but with emphasis on cautionary interpretation.…”

“…Jest nadzieja w postaci przenośnych urządzeń wykorzystujących kryteria zaproponowane przez Lavigne i wsp., 61 które również mogą być używane w domu przez pacjenta, a tym samym zapewnić obniżenie kosztów i większy komfort pacjenta, ponieważ badanie może nastąpić w zaciszu własnego domu.
