Multiple honey bees tracking and trajectory modeling

Abstract: The current context of biodiversity loss is particularly marked by the Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) of honeybees due to multiple causes, toxicological, parasitic and viral. The beekeeper has to face these difficulties in order to maintain the population of bees to save the species but also to make its exploitation profitable. According studies, one can understand what is happening inside the hive by observing what is going on outside. In this context, we propose to individually capture by video the flight tr… Show more

“…Using a 50 fps (frames per seconds) acquisition video, the proposed method achieves a tracking of 99% of single flying bees based on blob segmentation. This work, which initially suffered from limitations due to the hypothesis of constant velocity flight has been further developed in [28], [29] and [18].…”

“…With technology and IoT evolving, more accurate, small size, and low-price sensors became available in the market, ensuring a non-disturbing data collection environment [16,17]. Thus, more measurements related to the honeybee colony can now be collected, such as image [18], relative humidity [19], sounds, internal temperature, weight, forager traffic, and gases [20,21].…”
